Gameplay Overview

The defining rule of this game is simple: you are forced to begin in the Nether. There is no safe preparation period in the Overworld. With only limited supplies available, you must survive the hostile Nether, locate the Stronghold, reach the End, and return to the Overworld alive.

“Nether Speedrun” is a speedrun add-on created specifically for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Its objective is straightforward: travel to the End, complete the challenge, and make it back to the Overworld without dying.

There is, however, an important twist: death is not merely a failure—it can also be part of your strategy. Each death adds a 3-minute penalty to your final time. In exchange, you respawn with powerful Perks or useful special items.

Would you deliberately sacrifice a life to obtain better equipment and abilities? Or will you depend entirely on your survival skills and aim for the fastest possible clear? Your strategy will determine the outcome.

Three Game Modes

At the beginning of the game, use the “Clock (Game Menu)” to select a mode.

Choice Mode

After dying, you may choose one Perk from three randomly selected options.

This mode is ideal for players who enjoy planning their progression and building a personalized strategy. Every death can become an opportunity to strengthen your character and adjust your approach.

Random Mode

After dying, the game automatically grants you a random Perk.

You may receive an extremely powerful buff—or suffer from troublesome effects such as constant explosions or Slowness. This mode puts your luck to the test and requires you to adapt to unexpected changes at any moment.

Speedrun Mode

This mode provides no Perks and gives you only a minimal set of starting items.

It offers the purest version of the challenge, placing the focus on your Minecraft survival skills, quick decision-making, and resource management.

Key Features

• Perk System: The add-on includes a wide range of abilities, such as “Permanent Night Vision,” “Haste,” “Full Gold Armor,” “No Fall Damage,” and “Explosive Attacks,” along with many other special Perks to discover.
• Timer and Record System: The action bar displays your current elapsed time and the number of death penalties. Once the game is cleared, your final completion time and total death penalty time are recorded and prominently displayed.
• Multiplayer Support:
  • The first player to join becomes the Host and manages the current game.
  • Players who join after the game has started automatically become Spectators.
  • Spectators can instantly teleport to a living player simply by looking straight up.
• Custom Lobby: The game begins in a safe waiting room enclosed by bedrock, protecting players from outside interference before the challenge starts.

Installation

This add-on can be installed in any survival world. When creating a new world or editing an existing world’s settings, apply the add-on under the “Behavior Packs” section.

Once you enter the world, the lobby will be generated automatically. No manual construction is required.
