26.2-pre-5 is the fifth pre-release for Java Edition 26.2, released on June 8, 2026[1], which fixes several bugs.

- The "Game Mode" and "Allow Cheats" buttons are no longer available in Hardcore mode worlds.
Other Changes
- When the world host changes the game mode using F3 + F4 or commands, the world's default game mode is now updated accordingly.
- If the game crashes on startup while using the "Prefer Vulkan (Experimental)" setting, this setting will automatically revert to "Default".
- When set to "Default", the game will still attempt to retrieve Vulkan system information upon startup.
- If the game crashes on startup while using the "Default" setting, this setting will automatically change to "Prefer OpenGL".
- When using the "Prefer OpenGL" setting, the game no longer interacts with the Vulkan system to prevent crashes.
