Torch OffHand Addon Detailed Guide

Overview

The Torch OffHand add-on is designed to enhance your Minecraft exploration experience. By installing this add-on, you will be able to equip a torch in your off-hand slot, allowing you to illuminate your path more efficiently while exploring at night. Additionally, the add-on includes support for Sea Pickle, enabling you to gain light while exploring underwater.

Compatibility and Technical Features

This add-on offers excellent compatibility, working seamlessly with various other add-ons and supporting use in Realms server environments. To ensure a pure and stable gaming experience, the advantages of installing this add-on include:

  1. It does not disable game achievements.
  2. No experimental gameplay options are required in the world settings.
  3. It utilizes optimized code logic, ensuring smooth operation without negatively impacting player data.

This add-on is currently compatible with Minecraft 1.21.x and higher versions.

Installation Guide

To ensure the full functionality of the add-on, you must download and install the following two core files:

  1. Torch OffHand Behavior Pack (BP): Handles the logic and rules for the add-on.
  2. Torch OffHand Resource Pack (RP): Provides the models, textures, and visual effects.

Both files are mandatory for the add-on to function properly; please ensure both are installed.

Functionality and Usage Guide

Core Lighting Mechanism: When you hold a torch in your main hand or off-hand, your surrounding environment will automatically become illuminated.

How to Use the Off-Hand Torch: To equip a torch in your off-hand slot, you must first obtain its off-hand-compatible version. You can do this by crafting or by converting it within your inventory or crafting table interface.

Special Note on the Switching Mechanism: When you wish to move a torch to your off-hand via interaction, please be aware of the add-on's detection logic. Because vanilla torches are designed to be placed on blocks, the system requires that for this interaction, there must be noplaceable blocks within an 8-block radius around the player. If this condition is met, the interaction will successfully move the torch to the off-hand; otherwise, it will default to the standard block-placement behavior.

Similarly, Sea Pickle usage follows the same principles, allowing you to equip it to your off-hand via crafting or interaction for underwater illumination.
