Newb Shader is an enhanced vanilla shader that prioritizes lightweight performance and soft aesthetics. It provides comprehensive support for Minecraft Bedrock 1.21+ (Windows, Android, and iOS).

As a vanilla-styled, lightweight Minecraft Bedrock shader, it masterfully enhances the core aesthetics of the game. Through specifically crafted technical implementations, it flawlessly adapts to Android, Windows, and higher versions of Minecraft.

Note: v16 will be the final release of the "Newb X Legacy" series. As the developer, I (devendrn) no longer possess the motivation or time to dedicate to this project. However, this project still holds a profound place in my heart! I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along this journey. Any future updates, if any, will be carried out by members of the community.

Please be aware: This shader will not function without the required patch tools. Ensure you read the installation guide before downloading.

  • Depth: A smooth fog layer that blends across the horizon, complemented by a misty layer to create greater world depth.
  • Rainy Weather: A fan-favorite feature that elevates the atmosphere during rain.
  • Entities: Entities are rendered with a soft ambient glow.
  • Color Correction: Uses a common yet robust tone mapping method to give Newb Shader its signature color profile.
  • Sun/Moon: Includes a 3D-styled vanilla moon with all lunar phases, alongside a stunningly smooth sun that preserves the vanilla vibe.
  • Glowy Ores: Ores shimmer and glow in the darkness, making them easier to spot while mining.
  • Auroras: The night sky is enhanced with beautiful aurora lights that evolve over time.

Installation Guide

Disclaimer: Minecraft Bedrock does not officially support loading custom shaders. The following methods are unofficial.

Android

  1. Install the MB Loader app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Launch Minecraft through MB Loader.
  3. Import the resource pack and activate it in your global resources.

Windows

  1. Use BetterRenderDragon to enable MaterialBinLoader.
  2. Import the resource pack and activate it in your global resources. If BetterRenderDragon is incompatible with your version, use Matject (ensure material-updater is disabled) to install.

Linux (x86_64 architecture)

Intended for mcpelauncher-manifest.

  1. Install mcpelauncher-materialbinloader-mod.
  2. Import the resource pack and activate it in your global resources.

iOS

Unfortunately, there is no easy method to install shaders on iOS devices. It typically requires a jailbreak or installing an untrusted IPA file.

If you encounter difficulties following these steps, feel free to seek assistance on our Discord server.

Configuration

The following graphics settings are recommended for the best experience:

  • Beautiful sky: On
  • Smooth shading: On
  • Clouds: On
  • Fancy graphics: On
  • Brightness: 10-90%

The resource pack contains multiple subpacks. Use the "No wave, No Fog" subpack for improved performance. Always ensure the shader pack is placed at the top of your resource pack list to prevent conflicts with other visual add-ons.
