Coastal Waves

Bring breaking waves to your beaches!

Have you ever found yourself wondering, "Why has no one ever added beach waves to Minecraft? What does it take to make that happen?" Well, the wait is finally over! Introducing Coastal Waves, a mod designed to transform your world by bringing the atmospheric and serene sounds of crashing waves to the shore with all-new, scenic wave effects. These waves aren't just for visual flair; they come with dynamic gameplay mechanics. They have a chance to deposit useful materials onto the beach and can interact with entities in their path, adding exciting new elements to your journey and providing a compelling reason to visit the coastline again. Whether you are out exploring, working on a grand build, or simply enjoying the vista, this mod enhances your gaming experience with the beauty and bounty of the ocean. Dive into the waves and discover what hidden treasures they might bring you!

This mod adds and utilizes the following tags, all of which can be customized to suit your preferences:

  • For blocks: waves:wave_blocks – A list of blocks that waves can randomly deposit on the shore.
  • For fluids: waves:has_waves – A list of fluids upon which waves are allowed to spawn.
  • For biomes: waves:has_waves – A list of biomes in which waves can naturally spawn.
  • For entities: waves:wave_interaction_blacklist – A list of entities that are prevented from interacting with waves.
  • For entities: waves:wave_interaction_whitelist – A list of entities that are permitted to interact with waves.

The Y-level at which waves generate can be configured via a JSON file. This file is located at ./config/waves/waves.json and includes default configurations for all vanilla dimensions.

For players utilizing minimap mods with entity radars who wish to hide the wave entities, the ID for the wave entity is waves:waves.
