BVSF: An Optimized Solution for Low-End PCs

About This Shader

Hello, I am LoLip_p. I am the developer behind the BVS shader, a pack designed to maintain the vanilla aesthetic of Minecraft. While the standard BVS package is quite efficient, I recognized that some players still struggle with lower-end hardware. Consequently, I developed BVSF (Best Vanilla Shader FAST), a lightweight alternative to the original.

Compared to the standard version, BVSF has undergone specific feature pruning. To ensure maximum performance, this version removes demanding visual effects such as Depth of Field (DoF), Screen Space Reflections (SSR), and Physics Based Rendering (PBR). Therefore, by switching to this version, players using entry-level hardware will experience a significant increase in frame rates, allowing for much smoother gameplay.

Performance Metrics (360 FPS+)

To demonstrate its capabilities, the following test parameters were used:

  • Resolution: 2K (2560x1440)
  • Render Distance: 10 chunks
  • GPU: RX 580 (8GB)
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 1500X

Shader Installation Guide

To install and activate BVSF, please follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your Minecraft client supports shader installation, such as Optifine or Iris.
  2. Download the BVSF shader files.
  3. Copy the files into the ".minecraft/shaderpacks" folder in your game directory.
  4. Launch Minecraft and navigate to Options -> Video Settings -> Shaders.
  5. Select "BVSF - Best Vanilla Shader (FAST)" from the list to apply the settings.
