Ameliorate Add-on
Introduction
Ameliorate is a meticulously crafted Vanilla+ Add-on designed to expand and refine existing mechanics. By introducing new decorative and functional blocks, updating mob AI behaviors, and implementing quality-of-life improvements, this add-on provides a polished and cohesive gameplay experience.
Before installing, please note the following:
- This add-on is fully achievement-compatible and does not require any experimental gameplay settings.
- Mob behavior tweaks may disrupt existing creature-based automated farms.
- The add-on performs optimally on the latest stable version of the Bedrock Edition.
- Vibrant visuals or shaders are not currently supported.
- Compatibility patches for other add-ons are welcomed and encouraged.
- For a comprehensive list of changes, please refer to the changelog of each published build.
Features
Blocks
Ameliorate introduces over a dozen new blocks ranging from decorative accents to utility tools. The highlight of this collection is the series of "compressed" block versions for various items, which serve to alleviate inventory clutter while unlocking new decorative possibilities. Some blocks possess unique properties based on their constituent materials.
Mob Tweaks
The add-on applies sophisticated behavioral improvements and AI adjustments. Key highlights include:
- Horses: Tamed and saddled horses (including donkeys and mules) will remain stationary when dismounted. Mules can now be equipped with armor and chests, while their collision box width has been reduced to 1.0 for easier navigation.
- Villagers: They utilize improved pathfinding. Specific professions now grant utility, such as Clerics consuming milk to negate status effects, healing themselves, and turning invisible when in danger.
- Illagers: They are now capable of swimming, opening doors, and navigating around hazards (such as cactus or magma). They can alert other Illagers and detect potential threats within a 32-block radius.
- Wandering Trader: The trade inventory includes new blocks. The trader now moves at a slower pace, has improved fear detection against hostile mobs, drinks milk to clear negative status effects, and avoids walking on farmland.
Recipes
To ensure crafting is more efficient and economical, several vanilla recipes have been adjusted, and alternative, cost-effective recipes have been added. Examples of these balance changes include:
- Door: 2 instead of 3
- Trapdoor: 4 instead of 3
- Fence: 8 instead of 6
- Ladder: 8 instead of 3
- Chain: 8 instead of 1
- Candle: 4 instead of 1
- Rail: 64 instead of 16
- TNT: 4 instead of 1
- Arrow: 8 instead of 4
Interactions
New interactions have been integrated to facilitate terraforming and enhance immersion:
- Grass Paths and other new paths can be reverted to dirt by using a shovel.
- Farmland can be reverted into dirt by using a hoe or placing a dirt block.
- Crimson Nylium, Warped Nylium, and their respective paths can be converted into Netherrack using a hoe.
- Using a Water Bottle, Splash Water Bottle, or Lingering Water Bottle on dry farmland will transform it into wet farmland.
- Campfires can be extinguished using a thrown snowball or a wind charge.
- Gravel has a 30% chance to convert into sand when struck by a wind charge.
