Alpha Piscium is a high-fidelity, photorealistic shaderpack designed for Minecraft. By leveraging cutting-edge rendering techniques, it delivers a breathtaking visual environment, featuring sophisticated global illumination, volumetric cloud systems, and atmospheric scattering effects.
Key Features
- Real-time Global Illumination
- Features Screen-Space Global Illumination based on Reservoir-based SpatioTemporal Importance Resampling (ReSTIR).
- Integrated with ReBLUR for high-quality denoising.
- Atmospheric Scattering
- Delivers realistic, high-speed, and real-time atmospheric visuals.
- Utilizes the Unreal Engine Sky Atmosphere Rendering Technique and Epipolar Sampling.
- Volumetric Clouds
- Powered by the Nubis system.
- High-quality Adaptive Shadows
- Implements Rectilinear Texture Warping (RTWSM) for sharp, adaptive shadow rendering.
Installation
- Download the Alpha Piscium shaderpack.
- Install the Iris shader loader.
- Open your Minecraft launcher and select the Iris profile matching your game version.
- Launch the game and navigate to Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.
- Click Open Shader Pack Folder.
- Place the downloaded ZIP file directly into the directory (.minecraft/shaderpacks).
- Select the newly added pack from the list within the game. (If successfully loaded by Iris, the text will turn yellow.)
- Click Done or Apply to initialize the shader.
FAQ
- Darkness at night: Please use PBR resource packs. For a vanilla-consistent aesthetic, SPBR is recommended, or try Patrix for higher detail.
- Shader loading failure: Please ensure you are using Iris version 1.7 or higher.
- Turning back causes darkness: This is a limitation inherent to screen-space rendering techniques; currently, no perfect solution exists.
- Intel GPU compatibility: Due to the use of advanced graphics tech and poor OpenGL driver maintenance by Intel, this shaderpack does not support Intel GPUs.
- AMD GPU: Verify that your GPU driver version is newer than 22.7.1. Please update if you are running an older version.
- General loading errors: Press Ctrl+D in the Iris shader selection screen to reload. If the error persists, check the log files in .minecraft/patched_shaders as specified in the error notification and report the issue to the developer.
Roadmap
- 1.9 Specular GI: Addition of specular global illumination.
- 2.0 World Space Tracing: Introduction of voxelization and voxel tracing.
- 2.1 DRT Update: Release of Skibidi DRT and potential support for HDR mods.
- 2.2 Volumetric Shadowing: Adding cloud shadowing and screen-space shadows to volumetric effects.
- 2.3 Local Fog: Introduction of ground-level fog effects.
- 2.4 Cloud Shadow: Implementing cloud shadows on terrain and integrating clouds into reflection/GI.
- 2.5 Cloud Update Part 1: Improving cloud lighting, adding altocumulus clouds, and refactoring cirrus modeling.
- 2.6 Cloud Update Part 2: Rewriting cumulus models and adding stratocumulus and nimbostratus.
- 2.7 Upscaling: Potential addition of FSR 3.1 (excluding frame generation).
- 2.8 Parallax Mapping: Exploring steep/smooth parallax mapping and parallax shadow support.
