The upcoming Minecraft 2026 Fall Update will introduce a brand-new Poplar wood set. This wood set will be added to the game alongside poplar trees that generate in the Dappled Forest biome. During a previous live stream demonstration, players had the chance to get an early look at their in-game effects.
Here is more detailed information about the Poplar wood set in the Minecraft 2026 Fall Update.
Appearance of the Poplar Wood Set in the Minecraft 2026 Fall Update

Previously, Mojang has added various wood sets to the game. Back in early 2022, there were only eight types of wood, including warped and crimson wood from the Nether.
Subsequently, the development team introduced mangrove wood in the Wild Update in April 2022; then the cherry wood set was added; even bamboo received crafting recipes similar to regular wood sets. By 2024, pale oak had officially joined the ranks of building materials.
In the upcoming Minecraft 2026 Fall Update, the developers confirmed the addition of the new Poplar wood set. During the Minecraft Live showcase in May 2026, the officials specifically mentioned that poplar wood looks visually very similar to pale oak.

Observing the demonstration, we can see that this new wood set is actually a darker, warmer variant of pale oak. It is worth noting that specific shading and lighting conditions can make these new blocks appear even deeper, meaning that the game's lighting system will play a key role in visually distinguishing poplar wood from pale oak.
How to Obtain Poplar Wood in the Minecraft 2026 Fall Update

The new Poplar wood set resources originate from the Dappled Forest biome, which was also revealed during Minecraft Live in May 2026. This forest biome will generate in cold regions of the Overworld, featuring stunning poplar trees as the main landscape. These trees have dark gray-brown trunks and bright, vibrant red, orange, or yellow leaves.
As with other trees in the game, players can chop them down to obtain logs, and then use a crafting table to process them into various new wooden blocks.
