"This can't be done in the game": Minecraft TwitchCon trailer sparks controversy for showcasing a removed Brimstone Block feature

Mojang Studios recently promoted the "Minecraft TwitchCon" live event across multiple social media platforms. However, this move drew strong backlash from the player community, primarily because the official promotional video featured the "Brimstone Block" – a feature whose gameplay functionality has already been removed.

On May 26, 2026, the official Minecraft social account released a short animated clip showing Steve speeding through the game world using a Brimstone Block, a boat, and a spear, along with the date and location of the Minecraft TwitchCon live event.

Many players expressed disappointment at this promotional tactic, because the clip showcased exactly the Brimstone Block feature that Mojang explicitly removed during the development of the "Chaos Cube" game update. Players widely felt that it was highly inappropriate for the official account to use a feature that no longer exists to drive interest in an offline event.

Well-known YouTuber RaysWorks commented:

"This can't be done in the game."

Other players on social media also chimed in, questioning why the development team would highlight a feature that has already been removed. While some players raged at this "overpromising" style of promotion, others were surprised, feeling that Mojang Studios had officially acknowledged this gameplay trick and couldn't help but wonder if the feature might return to the game in the future.

Tracing the origin of this feature, when the Brimstone Block first appeared in snapshots and beta versions, enthusiastic community players quickly discovered a special transportation method.

The specific logic of the trick: place a pig inside a boat, put a wood block on a Brimstone Block, leash it to the boat, then have the player sit in the boat and continuously attack the Brimstone Block with a spear. Due to the mechanics, constantly attacking the creature causes it to move continuously, dragging the boat along at high speed.

It is worth noting that this amusing transportation trick was already fixed and removed in Java Edition snapshots, but because the interaction distance for characters in Bedrock Edition beta versions is longer, the mechanic still works there.
