Xarkoles - Lush Canyons and Plateaus
Map Overview
Xarkoles is a sprawling 36 km² custom Minecraft survival map meticulously crafted by McMeddon. It features a magnificent cross-shaped continent with a core composed of vast terrace and mesa terrain, carved by canyons and cliffs stretching from west to east. Explore the picturesque mountains to the north, venture into two solitary volcanoes, or traverse the vast plains and forests that span the land. From arctic regions to lush valleys, everything is prepared for your exploration.
In this iteration, I have further progressed the world-building, focusing on adding new terrain features, redefining biome placement logic, and making world-wide enhancements. Most notably, I have implemented a vast array of new subbiomes for birch, spruce, oak, plains, and meadow environments.
I wish you all a magnificent expedition!
Survival Features
- Compatible with both Java and Bedrock editions (1.21+).
- Enhanced biomes with diverse vegetation, flora, and fauna.
- Lootable structures, including shipwrecks, hot air balloons, and dungeons.
- Customized underground features: caves, mineshafts, mansions, and strongholds.
- Survival-oriented design: balanced ore distribution, resource placement, and village integration.
About the Creator
I am a map architect specializing in large-scale landscapes and custom survival maps. My objective is to create the finest Minecraft worlds that are both functional and delightful to play. Through a long-term evolution of project after project, I have relentlessly pursued the goal of reimagining the fundamentals of Minecraft to facilitate new experiences while strictly preserving the "spirit" of vanilla gameplay. PlanetMinecraft is my home base, where I love sharing my creations and fostering a community that resonates with my vision for these worlds.
Developed on Linux
This map was developed entirely within a Linux environment.
With the shifting landscape of the tech industry and the evolving challenges inherent in Windows, I intend to demonstrate that it is entirely possible to create and play on Linux. While the Linux ecosystem presents a steep learning curve and certain limitations—particularly regarding licensed software and codecs—the experience is truly rewarding. I consistently discover new features and capabilities on a daily basis that were simply never possible under Windows. Minecraft runs beautifully, as do Worldpainter, Worldmachine (with Wine/Bottles configuration), Chunker, ChunkyRender, and Blockbench.
