Voxy Distant View Renderer: A Level-of-Detail Solution for Extreme Render Distances

Mod Overview

Welcome to Voxy, a lightweight distant view renderer designed specifically for Minecraft. Its core advantage lies in its extremely low system resource usage. As a rendering tool focused on Level of Detail (LoD) technology, Voxy aims to break through the view distance limitations of vanilla Minecraft and provide players with breathtaking ultra-long-distance rendering.

Please note that, in order to support this level of visual performance, your hardware system must support OpenGL 4.6 or higher.

Core Mechanism and View Distance Principles

Voxy cleverly uses Level of Detail (LoD) technology to render distant terrain smoothly. Instead of simply brute-forcing chunk loading, the mod dynamically converts terrain data into LoD models in real time as you explore the world. This mechanism greatly expands the visible range while minimizing the load on both the GPU and CPU.

Shader Support and Compatibility

To meet the needs of players who care deeply about visuals, Voxy officially introduced shader support starting from version 0.2.4. However, this is not a universal “plug-and-play” feature. To ensure correct rendering results, shader packs must explicitly add dedicated support for Voxy in their code. Before using shaders together with this mod, please confirm whether your chosen shader pack has already been adapted for Voxy.

Existing World Import Guide

If you want to experience Voxy’s powerful features in a world you have already played, the mod provides a convenient command for importing existing world data. Please use the following command in-game:

/voxy import world "<world name>"

The logo of this mod was originally created by Devin and later modified and refined by Moonkey. Regarding modpack permissions, the author maintains a very open attitude. If you would like to include Voxy in your modpack, feel free to do so.
