Background Story: The Prologue of Despair

Looking back to June 22, 2015, when Frederick Mannings returned home dragging his weary body, he was met only by a deathly silence. His daughter, Jessica, had vanished into thin air. At first, reason told him that perhaps the child was just staying over at a friend's house.

However, as time passed, that sliver of hope was gradually swallowed by unease. Mannings' residence seemed to have developed a consciousness of its own, beginning to manifest a series of bizarre phenomena that could not be explained by science. Meanwhile, the room that should have been filled with laughter remained vacant; the missing girl has had no word since, and not a single trace of contact has been established.

To make matters worse, as the house gradually became distorted, the world outside also descended into madness. A severe containment breach occurred at the notorious local asylum. Patients broke free, sowing chaos and panic throughout the town. Even more horrifying, an unknown, eerie epidemic is spreading with the fugitives; anyone who comes into contact with it falls into deep hallucinations and extreme paranoia.

The Burkswell Asylum, a place historically shrouded in controversy, chose to maintain a deathly silence to the public in the face of a disaster of this magnitude. Trapped between this internal and external turmoil, can Frederick find his daughter before everything is consumed by madness? Or has she already become a part of this great grief?
