A Minecraft Movie: Squared Building Contest Voting Is Open—Here’s My Pick Among the Three Finalists

The voting phase for the A Minecraft Movie: Squared building contest has reached its final stage, and the ultimate decision now rests in the hands of the player community. After weeks of submissions, talented builders from around the world have presented their imaginative creations, from which the Mojang jury has selected three finalists. However, only one of these builds will earn the chance to appear in A Minecraft Movie: Squared, and it is the players who will decide its fate. Read on to learn how to participate in the vote and which of the three builds I have chosen.

Three Finalist Builds Compete for a Movie Cameo

The Minecraft movie building vote is now live and will remain open until July 6 at 11:59 PM PT. The event is open to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition players, with each player able to cast one vote for their favorite build within the dedicated in-game event space.

This vote stems from the earlier A Minecraft Movie: Squared building challenge. Participants were tasked with creating builds that fit the movie's world-building aesthetic under specific block constraints. After reviewing the submissions, the Mojang jury selected the following three finalists:

  • "Lightning Rod Lighthouse" by Francisco C. B.
  • "Copper Badlands Castle" by Rosanna C.
  • "Treehouse Village" by Ben V.

The styles of the three builds are strikingly different. The "Lightning Rod Lighthouse" stands as an engineering marvel on the coastline; the "Copper Badlands Castle" carries an air of rugged wilderness and fantasy; while the "Treehouse Village" blends nature, living space, and a fairy-tale charm. Now, the question is up to the players: which build would you like to see in the movie?

Participating in the vote is straightforward. Players can enter the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition event experience by launching the game, clicking "Play," navigating to the "Servers" tab, and selecting the corresponding event.

Once inside the A Minecraft Movie: Squared voting event, players will walk down a red carpet and arrive at a grand hall. The three finalist builds are located at the end of the hall, with a voting booth set up in front of each. Upon reaching a booth, press the interaction key (typically right-click on PC) to open the voting window and submit your choice.

If it were up to me, I would cast my vote for the "Copper Badlands Castle." This build perfectly captures the gritty, arid, and metallic aesthetic of the Minecraft Badlands biome. More importantly, it makes me hope that a Copper Golem might make an appearance in the film. Imagine if a Copper Golem wasn't just responsible for moving items in chests, but suddenly gained consciousness and tried to help Steve save the world—that would be a fascinating plot point.

The voting window will close on July 6 at 11:59 PM PT, and the winning build will be announced on July 10 via official Minecraft social media channels. Seeing an event like this reminds us that learning to build a recognizable Minecraft house, or drawing inspiration from various creative builds, might really come in handy one day.

So, out of these three finalists, which one is your favorite?
